This winter just refuses to end, but summer is coming. I promise. It isn't even May yet and my summer to-do list is already filling up! Friends to see, trips to take, terraces to hit up...the list goes on. So while we're getting excited about all the summer fun to be had, let's throw some of these outdoor sports into the mix!

Paddle Boarding If you haven't already tried paddle boarding, I suggest you get on it as soon as possible. But be warned: it is harder than it looks. It's also a killer core workout. You can rent boards, and even try out a lesson or two, at Parc Jean-Drapeau. Read more here.

Mountain Biking Feeling adventurous? Give mountain biking a try! Rent bikes at Ma Bicyclette and hit one of Montreal’s trails.

Slack Lining If you’ve ever been to a Montreal park (which I really hope you have), you’ve probably noticed a lot of people walking on slack lines. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been dying to give it a try. When you first step on, your legs will feel like noodles. But it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it!

Hiking Going on a nice hike is a great way to let go of the stress of the work week and reconnect with nature. Montreal (believe it or not) has a ton of hikes to offer! Check it out here.

Surfing Yes, you heard me correctly: surfing! Though we aren’t exactly on the ocean, our beloved St. Lawrence River is home to some pretty unreal waves. River surfing is SO exhilarating, and I would suggest that anyone give it a try. Here’s some more info if you're interested.

Kayaking Montreal’s Lachine Canal offers a ton of options when it comes to above-water transportation. If you’re interested in trying your hand at kayaking, you can rent either a single or a tandem kayak and hit the canal! Read more.

Paddle Boarding

Acro Yoga Here’s another circus-like phenomena you’ve probably spotted in one of Montreal’s parks. Arco yoga is a wonderful combo between yoga and acrobatics. This is something you may want to learn a bit about before diving in headfirst with the die-hards in the park. Try a class a Wanderlust Yoga and then hit the grass!

Disk Golf There was a time in my life when disk golf was a weekly summer event. Though I have zero aim, it’s a seriously fun time. If you haven’t had the chance to give it a try, here’s some info to get the ball rolling!

Beach Volleyball Though we’re not overflowing with beaches, we certainly do beach volleyball right! Jeanne Mance Park has a handful of courts and it is a serious summer hotspot. Find out more on their Facebook page

Tennis Though tennis is incredibly difficult, it’s also a lot of fun. Montreal is exploding with tennis courts, so you’ll have no problem finding one near you. Check it out
